There are some national teams with noteworthy achievements, yet little do we know about them. The Onassis Foundation continues to support and uphold them.
For some students, Robotics, Maths, Physics, Chemistry, IT, Biology and Astronomy are not just sciences or subjects they study at school. They are a passion around which their whole lives revolve; an opportunity to compete and a way of distinguishing themselves; a dream and a challenge wrapped into one. They are also an opportunity to represent Greece internationally—and to represent Greece at its best.
The Onassis Foundation will continue to support these kids in 2018. As announced on the 13th of February, the Onassis Foundation will be there, by covering the expenses of the young scientists and the teachers who accompany them when they travel to this year's International Science Olympiads, for the 4th consecutive year.
As a key driving force behind both social and personal development, education is one of the main pillars of the Onassis Foundation's public-benefit activities. The Foundation has been supporting the right to equal access to Education, Health and Culture for decades now; its ultimate goal being to release the potential of those who want to get ahead in their careers, to distinguish themselves in their chosen field, to pursue their dream.
Always focused on the reward of excellence, the Onassis Foundation supports and showcases such efforts, to the extent of its power. Committed to rewarding excellence, the Onassis Foundation both supports such efforts and, to the extent that this falls within the scope of its activities, raises public awareness of them.
It is worth noting that 46 high school students and 23 teachers took part in this year's International Science Olympiads with support from the Onassis Foundation, while 27 students managed to achieve distinction winning a gold, silver or bronze medal or an honourable mention. Over the last three years, a grand total of 154 young scientists have taken part in International or Balkan Scientific Olympiads. Accompanied by 67 of their teachers, they have won no fewer than 81 awards for Greece!
